Białystok – what to see?
- Branicki Palace – “The Versailles of Podlasie” – it is the undisputed showcase of the city, but it is largely the seat of the Białystok Medical Academy, it is worth taking a walk around the beautiful gardens.
- Murals – something for fans of street art, but not only. There are plenty of murals in Białystok and walking in their footsteps will help you get to know the city, but will also please the eye. The most famous are: “Girl with a Watering Can” and “Zenek Martyniuk’s Mural”.
- Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker – in Poland we have about half a million Orthodox believers, most of them come from these parts, so it is worth visiting the church and seeing what atmosphere it creates.
- Dojlidzkie Ponds – they cover quite a large area, so it is worth going there on a rented bike, having a picnic (near or far from the city beach), or seeing the Hasbach Palace or the Lubomirski Palace.
- Wodopojka Vodka Bar – an iconic place that, exceptionally, was not included in the second section because it is considered an unusual travel experience. You can stop for a small glass and a snack and ask why this place is so special.
Białystok – where to eat?
- Akcent – the name is not without reason 🙂 – a cult place among the inhabitants of Białystok. It is a combination of a café and a bookstore. Delicious coffee and freshly squeezed juice, as well as a good place for breakfast.
- Halva – Tatar restaurant. A bit out of town, but it’s worth taking a taxi and going there because the restaurant is outstanding. Chimas or Tatar beef – simply delicacies. Drinks and lemonades from Georgia. The only drawback is that it will be rather difficult for vegetarians to find something for themselves.
- Maciejówka – in this restaurant you will probably eat only delicious things – kartacze, venison or duck salad. It’s hard to find a dish you don’t like.
The capital of Podlasie is definitely worth visiting. Certainly, if you set a good pace, you can get there in one day. However, it is always worth getting into the atmosphere a little more calmly and spreading everything out over 2 days. Buses to Białystok are cheap. You can return to this city for a performance at the local Philharmonic or Puppet Theater, of which the residents are very proud.
