Extend your vacation in Croatia. Tickets to Split

The school holidays are over, but the beautiful weather continues, especially in southern Europe. Croatia has been a destination loved by Polish tourists for years. However, many of us choose a long, expensive and tiring journey by car, often not knowing about convenient and good bus connections that save us not only money, but also time and energy. Thanks to this, after reaching our destination, we have the strength to explore, enjoy the beach and sun, or enjoy the delicacies of Dalmatian cuisine. The trip to Split by coach will take approximately 19 hours. It is still warm in Croatia in September, with the average temperature being 24 degrees. In addition, there are no longer such crowds as during the holiday months. This is probably enough reason to visit bilety.pl and look for cheap bus connections to Split. We will check what is worth visiting in Split and show that it is more profitable to travel by bus.

Split is the second largest city in Croatia, and its location on the Adriatic coast makes it an attractive city for tourists. Beautiful beaches, impressive history and architecture make this city fascinating and worth visiting. Split should be on your list of places to visit.

Accommodation

For a short stay, it is definitely worth considering staying close to the old town, where we are closer to the center of events, but it is definitely not a budget option. An alternative is accommodation in the Veri Varos district, from where it is still 15 minutes to the edge of the old town, and prices range around EUR 100 for a double room. We recommend the popular Apartments Korta. In further, eastern districts we can find double rooms for around 80 euros per night, but then we have to add a bus ride to the center, which will take about 30 minutes. We recommend, for example, KIKASO apartments.

Split – what to see?

  1. Diocletian’s Palace – the narrow streets of the Old Town are a unique place because they were once part of this emperor’s palace. The main point is the central square surrounded by columns. As the Palace is part of the city, entrance here is free.
  2. Riva – a seaside promenade that runs along the Old Town. A perfect place to admire the sunset over the Adriatic Sea with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Cultural events and festivals also take place here.
  3. Marjan Park – located on a hill, with the highest peak Telegrin, which guarantees wonderful views. In the park you will find numerous walking paths and small chapels, and you can get to the park by bus from the city center.
  4. Klis Fortress – if you are a Game of Thrones fan, you must visit this place. The fortress is only 15 km from Split, and the views of the city and the bay are simply stunning. There is a fee to enter the fortress.
  5. Kašjuni Beach – located near Marjan Park, in addition to sunbathing and beautiful views, you can also visit events held in a hipster beach bar.

Split – where to eat?

  1. Bokeria Kitchen & Wine – Mediterranean cuisine with Balkan influences. Although the prices are quite high, the dishes are prepared to perfection. Definitely the best restaurant in Split.
  2. Pandora Greenbox – here’s a proposition for vegans. Beautiful decor full of plants, as well as very creative dishes on the menu. The names of the dishes are the names of popular actresses. We can eat Patty Smith or Marlene Dietrich here.
  3. Oš Kolač – you have to go here for coffee and something sweet. They specialize in jar desserts.

Croatia by car vs bus

Fuel costs – 1215km with an average fuel consumption of 11l/100km is about PLN 900, plus highway tolls in individual countries, which also have to be paid – the total is over PLN 100. A round-trip bus ticket is PLN 370 for one person. We see that this is a big saving.

Travel time – the bus will reach Split in approximately 18 hours. It’s true that a car will get there a few hours faster, but if we include the breaks that must be taken while driving, the time will not differ that much.

Comfort – after a 12-hour car journey, both passengers and especially the driver will need rest. Of course, a night bus trip does not mean staying in a five-star hotel, but modern buses provide great travel comfort, the opportunity to admire the landscapes outside the window and simply relax. It does not require concentration and attention and observing what is happening on the road. We can take movies and books on board and enjoy our free time.

Ecology – maybe a slightly less important aspect, but also worth remembering. The bus can carry more passengers, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions per person.

To sum up, traveling by bus to Croatia is not less comfortable or much longer than by car. However, it is certainly much cheaper. When planning your September holiday in Split, you should also analyze these aspects and be sure to check cheap bus tickets at bilety.pl. With our search engine and price comparison, you may save a lot of money that can be spent on attractions in this city.
