How to get from France to England by car or bus? There are two solutions:
- by ferry – the most popular route for buses and trucks is from Calais to Dover. Ferries run several times a day and the crossing takes about 90 minutes. The ticket is open, which means that immediately after arriving at the port we can board the first available ferry.
- Eurotunnel – route from Calais to Folkestone. Trains run up to 6 times per hour and the journey takes 35 minutes.
We would like to encourage you to travel via Eurotunnel. We are also the general distributor of Eurotunnel tickets in Poland. To make ticket booking even easier, we have launched the website eurotunnel.pl, where you can conveniently and quickly buy a ticket for a crossing to Great Britain.
Eurotunnel – general information
Eurotunnel connects Europe and the UK through an undersea tunnel drilled under the English Channel. Thanks to it, the journey becomes much shorter and allows passenger cars, motorcycles or campers to get to the other side without the need to use a ferry. It has become a key transport route since its opening, with Le Shuttle trains carrying millions of passengers and vehicles annually. It is of great importance for European trade and transport, as it allows goods to be transported much faster than by ferry.
There were plans to build the Eurotunnel at the beginning of the 20th century, but its history is only 30 years old. Construction began in 1987 and ended in 1994. It cost nearly EUR 5 billion.
