This year we will have 1 more day off from work, because Christmas Eve is added to the calendar of holidays. Together with weekends, there are as many as 116 days off from work, which we can plan for short trips, city breaks, or relaxation in nature. It all starts with good planning.
When to plan a long weekend?
January
The first opportunity came in the first week of January. Because January 6 (3 Kings’ Day) fell on a Monday, so we could already rest for 3 days after the champagne New Year’s party. The smarter ones planned their long break in advance, taking leave on January 2 and 3 and enjoying a long, six-day vacation. It was a great opportunity to take a long trip abroad by bus or go skiing.
February
Then we have another two months when we only have weekends. However, if we are education workers, winter holidays are of course waiting for us. In the case of the Masovian Voivodeship, the holidays are scheduled from February 3 to 16, so if we have school-age children, it is worth considering taking leave on these days to go to the mountains, ski and spend this time with family.
April
After two hard-working months, we have the opportunity to rest at Easter. This year it falls on Sunday, April 20, and Easter Monday on April 21. So we have 3 days off, and if you take a vacation on Good Friday, April 18, then we have 4 days off. May weekend 2025
May 1 and 3 are public holidays. May 1 falls on a Thursday, so it is worth planning your vacation for May 2 to have a 4-day long weekend. Due to the fact that Constitution Day on May 3 falls on a Saturday, we are entitled to one additional day off. It is very possible that your employer will set this day for May 2. June
Another long weekend in June. Corpus Christi falls as usual on Thursday, June 19, and with June 20 off, we have a longer 4-day weekend again. Then you can feel the holiday atmosphere and go to the mountains, the sea or the lake.
August
This year, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Polish Army Day falls on Friday, August 15. This means that each employee has a 3-day weekend at their disposal. You can plan a 9-day vacation for this time, taking the day off from August 11 to 14.
November
We will have to wait a little longer for the next longer weekends. This time, All Saints’ Day, November 1, falls on a Saturday, which means that we are also entitled to an additional day off from work. We can collect it on Monday, November 10, so that we have 4 days free again, because Independence Day on November 11 falls on a Tuesday.
December
Christmas is, of course, another time to rest from work. This year the calendar is shaping up very well, as the new statutory holiday, Christmas Eve, falls on Wednesday, December 24. Even if you have already taken all your vacation days, you still have 5 days off. You can submit a holiday request for December 22-23 and have 9 days to prepare and celebrate. As for the New Year’s Eve party, it falls on Wednesday, December 31, so if we get leave on January 2, we are entitled to 5 days for a New Year’s Eve party abroad.
